Biography
Owen is from Ferndale, Michigan, and moved to Marquette in 2024 to pursue a bachelor degree in Biology with a concentration in Ecology at Northern Michigan University. He is passionate about mycology and has a great interest in how fungi could aid us in ecosystem restoration. He is the president of the NMU Mycology Club, where he helps coordinate identification workshops, forays, and leads a student community of fungi-interested people. With the CDL he is currently working on learning R, strengthening his skills in GIS, and hopes to gain further knowledge and experience in research skills and programs.
In his free time, he enjoys hiking and looking for fungi, film photography, crocheting, and going to local music shows.
Interests: Mycology, Ecology, Ecosystem restoration, Mycorrhizal ecology, Edible mushroom cultivation, Photography, Hiking, and Crochet.
